João Vitor Pontes
Visiting MD/PhD Student
João is an MD student at Faculdade Israelita de Ciências da Saúde Albert Einstein in Brazil and an aspiring physician-scientist with interest in advancing cell-based therapies for solid tumors. Before joining Ty Miller’s lab through the Marcos Lottenberg and Marcos Wolosker International Fellowship for Physician-Scientists, he conducted research in cancer genomics under Dr. Paulo Campregher and later worked in advanced cell therapy under Dr. Lucila Kerbauy’s LNK lab.
His current interests lie at the intersection of immunotherapy, translational oncology, and CAR-T cell therapy, with focus on bringing laboratory discoveries closer to clinical application.
Outside of research, he enjoys going to the movies, board games, and reading fiction.
